Programs

Throughout the duration of MCMP events, programs and/or classes, there are opportunities for photographic and video coverage by MCMP which may include your participation or observance of the activity. MCMP reserves the right to use the photos and video at its discretion for media coverage and promotional materials, including broadcasts, reports, publications, social media and marketing materials of MCMP. If you do not wish to be photographed or video recorded at the event, please let the photographer or videographer know prior to being photographed or videotaped. MCMP shall otherwise assume that it has your permission to photograph or video you and/or your child's involvement and participation in this activity. The Backyard Conservation Lecture Series - Practical Conservation Techniques in Action

Join Gary Davenport, Project Coordinator for the Mahoning County Land Bank, and Zack Felger, Outreach & Education Specialist for the Mahoning County Soil and Water Conservation District, in an informative seminar exploring the wonders of the Ohio River watershed's native plants! Throughout this lecture series, participants will discover the benefits of native plants for both people and wildlife featuring insight from diverse guest speakers and experts in the fields of native plants and environmental restoration. Gain insights on cultivating native plants on your property, explore their diverse applications, and learn about grassroots backyard conservation efforts. THIS PROGRAM IS FULL *NEW* Kayak Club

Join our Kayak club! Members will meet once a month as a group with a Rec coordinator to explore the lakes of Mill Creek MetroParks. Learn the fundamentals of kayaking and water safety. Members will be able to use the kayaks at Lake Glacier and Lake Newport free of charge and will be provided with a life jacket if you do not have your own. Members will also receive a long sleeve kayaking shirt, backpack, water bottle, dry bag to prevent any items getting wet, signaling device, and 6 kayak adventures. Rock the Park - a Geological Exploration of Mill Creek Park

Ever wonder how Mill Creek Park was formed? For much of geologic history, Ohio was underwater and near the equator! Join us on the Cohasset Express Trolley as we travel back over 300 million years and explore the formation of the Park throughout geologic time. Learn about the bedrock of the Park and how the Ice Age shaped the Park that we all love. Where possible, we will hop off to investigate geologic features up close.
