Programs
Throughout the duration of MCMP events, programs and/or classes, there are opportunities for photographic and video coverage by MCMP which may include your participation or observance of the activity. MCMP reserves the right to use the photos and video at its discretion for media coverage and promotional materials, including broadcasts, reports, publications, social media and marketing materials of MCMP. If you do not wish to be photographed or video recorded at the event, please let the photographer or videographer know prior to being photographed or videotaped. MCMP shall otherwise assume that it has your permission to photograph or video you and/or your child's involvement and participation in this activity. "Winter Talks" - The Idora Park Experience
The Ford Nature Center "Winter Talks" series is featuring the Idora Park Experience. Join us in the warmth and bright lights of our Education Building for an afternoon with Jim & Toni Amey as they share their memories of Idora and their adventures in collecting park memorabilia. Creature Feature: Superb Owl Sunday
Pop-in owl themed educational exhibit for all ages with children's owl craft. A Park Educator will be on site at Ford Nature Center to answer your owl questions and guide you through examining an owl pellet and feathers under a microscope. It'll be a hoot! Walk-in. 12-3pm. February Full Moon Hike - Snow Moon
Join Park staff for a moon-lit evening hike on the night of the February Snow Moon. Meet at Lake Glacier Boathouse (parking on Calvary Run). Be prepared for a 1 to 2-mile moderate hike. Dress for the weather and bring a flashlight if you have one. (A limited number of small flashlights will be available.) In the event of inclement weather, an alternative date will be provided. Why should school-aged children have all the fun? Too young or too young-at-heart for a Valentine's Day party at a school? Pop into the Education Building located next to the Ford Nature Center (840 Old Furnace Rd.) to create a nature-themed Valentine's Day card for that someone special! Calling all 1st-3rd graders! Join our new program - Nature Explorers - where each month we will explore nature through experiments and hands-on activities. This month is Snowflake Day! In celebration of Valentine's Day, grab your favorite people and enjoy a hike around Lake Cohasset together. Enjoy views of green hemlocks, Pioneer Pavilion, the Suspension Bridge and much more! Moderate 2 to 3-mile hike with slight grades and some steps. Meet at the Ford Nature Center Parking lot (840 Old Furnace Road). Dress for the weather; hiking boots recommended. Coffee With the Birds: Great Backyard Bird Count
Special hours for the Great Backyard Bird Count! Enjoy a hot cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate and watch our feathered friends at the feeders in Nancy's Nook at the Ford Nature Center. A Park Educator will guide you in identifying the birds that frequent the Nature Center and interpret their behavior and ecology. Registration required; space is limited. No walk-ins. Ages 12+.
