Programs

Throughout the duration of MCMP events, programs and/or classes, there are opportunities for photographic and video coverage by MCMP which may include your participation or observance of the activity. MCMP reserves the right to use the photos and video at its discretion for media coverage and promotional materials, including broadcasts, reports, publications, social media and marketing materials of MCMP. If you do not wish to be photographed or video recorded at the event, please let the photographer or videographer know prior to being photographed or videotaped. MCMP shall otherwise assume that it has your permission to photograph or video you and/or your child's involvement and participation in this activity. Summer Star Party

Join Park Staff and YSU's Astronomy Department for an evening of astronomy, star talk, and stargazing. This event is tentatively scheduled for Monday, July 20; however, the date may be adjusted to another evening between July 20 and July 26 if weather conditions are more favorable. Our goal is to provide the best possible viewing experience under clear, cloudless skies. Participants who register will be notified directly of any schedule changes. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is strongly recommended to receive weather-related updates. We will meet at the MetroParks Farm parking lot (7574 Columbiana-Canfield Rd.). Kids' Wild Wednesdays Day Camp at Lanterman's Mill

New! Wild Wednesdays Day Camp for kids ages 8-12! Explore the wonders of nature and science as you learn plenty of WILD nature facts through nature activities, experiments and discovery hikes; with a different nature theme and Park location each week. This Wednesday we will meet at Ford Nature Center and take a Cohasset Express Trolley ride to Lanterman's Mill for some millin' around time. Our Wild Wednesday will include a tour of the Mill, lunch on the Covered Bridge, a Gorge Hike and so much more! Registration required. Noticing Nature

New! Slow down and discover the natural world around you during this relaxed, two-hour exploration around Ford Nature Center and surrounding trails. Led by an educator, this slow-paced walk invites participants to observe and discuss all things nature-related. Together, we'll notice and explore geology, trees, plants, insects, animals, and the many small details often missed in everyday life. Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to share what they see, exchange insights, and enjoy conversations inspired by the wonders around us. Participants are welcome to join in the discovery, ask questions, share observations, and connect more deeply with the outdoors. Walk with a Geologist: Hidden History Edition

Step off the beaten path and uncover the hidden stories of the landscape during this two-hour exploration of areas around the Ford Nature Center including the Edith Kauffman Quarry area. This guided adventure will explore the fascinating connection between geology and local history, revealing how natural forces and human activity have shaped the area over time. Participants can expect rugged and difficult terrain as we venture into lesser-known locations to discover rock formations, historic features, and forgotten traces of the past. Recommended for those comfortable hiking uneven ground and looking for a more adventurous outdoor experience. 1 - 2 miles over difficult terrain. Long pants and hiking boots recommended.
