Programs

Throughout the duration of MCMP events, programs and/or classes, there are opportunities for photographic and video coverage by MCMP which may include your participation or observance of the activity. MCMP reserves the right to use the photos and video at its discretion for media coverage and promotional materials, including broadcasts, reports, publications, social media and marketing materials of MCMP. If you do not wish to be photographed or video recorded at the event, please let the photographer or videographer know prior to being photographed or videotaped. MCMP shall otherwise assume that it has your permission to photograph or video you and/or your child's involvement and participation in this activity. Critter Tales: Squirrels

Ages 3-5, plus adult. Go nuts with Critter Tales! We'll read a story and learn about the quirky world of the squirrel through fun and games. Use all of your senses on a hike around Ford Nature Center's Ecology Trail. Create a squirrel themed craft to take home. Register/pay online by 11/18 or call 330.740.7107 x 129. $5 per child. Throwback Thursday: Pioneer Pavilion

Join a Park Educator and learn about the history and memories of Pioneer Pavilion. What has this building been used for? Who has been involved with it? From a Woolen Mill to storage for the Mill Creek Iron Furnace, this 1821 building has a rich history. Enjoy a warm beverage (provided) as we learn the ins and outs of the beautiful Pioneer Pavilion! Hike with a Naturalist: Springfield Forest

Join a monthly educational exploration of Mill Creek MetroParks' properties. What we encounter is based on the seasonal goings-on of life in the Park. This month we will explore Springfield Forest. Science Class (For Adults!): Dendrology

Why let the kids have all the fun? The Science Class series invites ages 18+ to dig in to their natural curiosity and explore the living world with a Park Educator through hands on learning. Think of a seventh grade science class for adults! This season we will be learning basic dendrology (the study of trees). We'll learn to identify trees without their leaves, make measurements to estimate tree height, and more. Christmas at the Mill

Enjoy the traditional holiday atmosphere at Lanterman's Mill. Fire-roasted chestnuts, unique handcrafted gifts for sale, and festive entertainment will lift your spirits. Santa will be visiting the mill from 12pm-2pm on both days. Indulge in some tasty treats from the concession stand. To share the holiday spirit with others, bring a new hat, scarf or a pair of mittens to decorate the "Giving Tree". Donated items will warm up children and adults in need this winter. Forest Babies

Join Park staff for Forest Babies, a program for your youngest ones, ages 1-3 years old. Enjoy bonding time together while exploring the trails at Ford Nature Center and then create a simple nature craft or complete an activity to take home. Please be sure you and your little one are dressed for the weather as this program will include outdoor nature time. Calling all 1st-3rd graders! Join Nature Explorers where each month we will explore nature through experiments and hands-on activities. This month is the science of evergreens and cones.
