Throughout the duration of MCMP events, programs and/or classes, there are opportunities for photographic and video coverage by MCMP which may include your participation or observance of the activity. MCMP reserves the right to use the photos and video at its discretion for media coverage and promotional materials, including broadcasts, reports, publications, social media and marketing materials of MCMP. If you do not wish to be photographed or video recorded at the event, please let the photographer or videographer know prior to being photographed or videotaped. MCMP shall otherwise assume that it has your permission to photograph or video you and/or your child's involvement and participation in this activity. Noticing Nature
Attention all nature lovers! Slow down and discover the natural world around you during this relaxed, two-hour exploration around Ford Nature Center and surrounding trails. Led by an educator and MCMP volunteers, this slow-paced walk invites participants to observe and discuss all things nature-related. Together, we'll notice and explore geology, trees, plants, insects, animals, and the many small details often missed in everyday life. Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to share what they see, exchange insights, and enjoy conversations inspired by the wonders around us. Participants are welcome to join in the discovery, ask questions, share observations, and connect more deeply with the outdoors. Suitable for all curiosity levels. Haunted Trolley Tour - Ghosts & Legends of Mill Creek Park
Is Mill Creek Park Haunted? Journey into the Park at night aboard the Cohasset Express trolley to look for ghostly figures and unexplained orbs of light while docents share otherworldly stories. Don't miss this nighttime adventure in the Park. Meet at Ford Nature Center. Ages 12 and older. Limited seating available. Reservations required. Is Lanterman's Mill haunted? Join Park staff and a local paranormal group to investigate the mill in the dark of night and decide for yourself. Lanterns will guide your path during your visit. Walk with a Geologist: Witch Hunt Edition
In the spirit of upcoming Halloween, come join a park educator on a witch hunt! Learn about the urban legend of the Witch's Cave area, while exploring the geology that makes it the perfect place for a 'hideout'! Meet at the Flats Parking lot and enjoy an afternoon hike along the Witch's Cave and Cascade Ravine. Approximately 1 mile, moderate - difficult terrain (climbing up steep steps and across rocks). Science Class (For Adults!): iNaturalist and Citizen Science
Why let the kids have all the fun? The Science Class series invites ages 18+ to dig in to their natural curiosity and explore the living world with a Park Educator through hands on learning. Think of a seventh grade science class for adults! This month focuses on phone/tablet apps that can enhance your knowledge of the natural world and maybe even contributing to science. Learn how to use iNaturalist and Seek, Merlin Bird ID and eBird, as well as other apps available to you. We'll learn what citizen science is (and isn't) and discover ways you can get involved.
